Over the years, the Joint Industry Companies (JIC) has spent a considerable amount of time, effort and monetary resources in delivering development projects on the Island, however, agitations for economic empowerment, employment and infrastructural development still resonated loudly throughout the land. It became evident that the only way to move the Island forward and ensure mutual satisfaction for all was a collaborative but community-led approach – which became the basis for the Memorandum of Understanding agreement between His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Perekule XI, Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, in conjunction with the Bonny Chief’s Council as the premier community representative and the JIC, led by NLNG, to determine the future of development on the Island.
